Papa John Witterick plays the Broken Record Bar and Music Room this Friday.

Live music events are back, venue calendars are filling up and the many pieces that make a community function appear to be turning once again. There are shows coming. There are open mic nights. Most importantly, there are things to do. Here’s a look at some choice events coming up this week in Fredericton. 

Monday 

Trivia Night at Maybee Brewing. Round up your smartest friends and head to Maybee Brew for Trivia Night! Gift card prizes. 7 p.m.

Tuesday 

Open Mic at Grimross Brewing Co. 8 p.m.

Wednesday 

Open Mic at Broken Record Bar and Music Room. 8 p.m.

Thursday 

Ventus Machina’s Water Surrounds Us at Charlotte Street Arts Centre. Water Surrounds Us is a new program created by Ventus Machina for the spring of 2022. The 65-minute program promises to be family-friendly and fascinating for all ages. 7:30 p.m.

Friday 

Papa John Witterick at Broken Record Bar and Music Room. Fine purveyor of Mississippi delta plantation juke joint blues. 10:30 p.m.

Yoo Doo Right + Motherhood at The Cap. A night of progressive rock, visionary punk and new noise. The hottest ticket of the week? Maybe. 8:30 p.m.

Jason Anderson at the Tipsy Muse Café. A Jason Anderson song is a conversation that you wish would never end. A midway ride that you don’t want to get off of. His shows are a gripping balance of language and love. Don’t miss this intimate evening. 7 p.m.

Red Sky Performance at Fredericton Playhouse. Red Sky Performance is a leading company of contemporary Indigenous performance in Canada and worldwide. Their work highlights the originality and power of contemporary Indigenous dance, theatre, music and media, enabling new creations to expand the breadth and scope of Indigenous‐made work in Canada. 7:30 p.m.

Run The River + The Stonemasons At Grimross Brewing Co. A rocking evening with two local bands. Note: this show will be filmed for a TV show. 8 p.m.

Saturday 

Beer Yoga at Grimross Brewing Co. 12 p.m.

Casual Combat – An afternoon of stunts, snow, and swashbuckling in Odell Park. Be an action hero for a day and learn how stunts and fights are performed — all within the safety of soft snow at one of Fredericton’s most beautiful public parks! Led by fight director Jean-Michel Cliche, this short and sweet workshop is perfect for families looking for a unique way to spend an afternoon outside! Everyone welcome. Bring the family! Meet at the lodge just before 1 p.m.

Diner Drugs, Heat $Heets, & Doctor Mother Father at The Cap. She Said Feck Records 4th Anniversary Show! 8 p.m.

Chloé Breault + Les Chanterelles at Charlotte Street Arts Centre. Chloé Breault’s effervescent pop has been grabbing the attention of not only Canadians outside of New Brunswick, but it also sees Chloé expanding her fan base into Europe as well. Fredericton’s Les Chanterelles open the show. 7 p.m.

Middle Of June at Grimross Brewing Co. 80’s and 90’s country, rock, blues and bluegrass. 8 p.m.

Ceeb Dread at Broken Record Bar and Music Room. The hip hop show and the city’s newest venue. Ceeb is a local legend. 10:00 p.m.

Sunday 

Open Mic at York County Cider. 2 p.m.

Open Mic at the Tipsy Muse Café. 3 p.m.
