Saint John Theatre Company enlist two of its own for upcoming production of Stephen King’s iconic thriller Misery, March 20-23 at the Imperial Theatre.

Continuing its long history bringing adaptations of popular films to the stage, Saint John Theatre Company is preparing to stage William Goldman’s adaptation of Stephen King’s iconic thriller Misery at the Imperial Theatre later this month as part of the company’s 2023-2024 season. The company’s mainstage season began with last year’s holiday show Elf, and will conclude in May with a production of Mary Poppins

The company’s upcoming production of Misery will see SJTC Artistic Director Stephen Tobias return to the stage as novelist Paul Sheldon alongside former Fundy Fringe Festival director Sarah Rankin who plays Sheldon’s number one fan, Annie Wilkes.

“Bringing Annie Wilkes to life on stage has been an exhilarating challenge,” said Rankin. “She is a disturbing and fascinating blend of obsession, unpredictability, and psychological intensity. I hope that the audience will enjoy getting to know her as much as I have.”

Tickets are $50 with senior and student discounts available. The show will run March 20-23 at 7:30 PM with an additional 2 PM matinee on March 23. For more information, or to book your tickets, call Imperial Theatre box office at 506-674-4100 or visit www.imperialonline.ca.
