Gearóid Ó Treasaigh, St. Thomas University’s Visiting Scholar in Irish Studies, will be hosting an evening of multilingual poetry, December 5 at the Grad House.

Writer, translator and Irish-language instructor Gearóid Ó Treasaigh has extended an open invitation for all to join him at the Grad House, 676 Windsor Street, on December 5 for an evening of poetry. As a Teagascóir Gaeilge with the Ireland Canada University Foundation, Gearóid is working to support Irish language and culture in New Brunswick, while also teaching courses at STU. But for this event, his invitation extends beyond Irish language. Interested participants are asked to bring along a poem in a language of their choice and share it with the group. Keen listeners are also welcome.

Ó Treasaigh will also be offering Irish-language classes every Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. starting on January 16. The course will focus on spoken language and will provide an introduction to the language through culture. There is no fee, but if anyone wants to take part, they’ll be asked to bring something along for the STU Food Bank every week. For more information or to register, please contact gotreasaigh@stu.ca
