Friday

Gravity & Other Myths at The Playhouse. Internationally renowned circus company, Gravity & Other Myths pushes the boundaries of contemporary circus. Formed in Adelaide, Australia in 2009, they’ve rocketed to stellar acclaim with a series of disarmingly accomplished ensemble works. Their work utilises an honest approach to performance, to create shows with a focus on human connection and acrobatic virtuosity. In their latest piece, Backbone, a high-octane spree of physical virtuosity, they test the limits of strength: physical, emotional, individual and collective. 7:30 p.m.

The Hypos Trio Live at The Tipsy Muse Café. Valentine’s Day at The Muse with some heartbreak numbers by 1/2 of Fredericton’s The Hypochondriacs. 7 p.m.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. Celebrate your love by making art with your sweetheart! Artist and instructor Katrina Slade will spark your creative energy with inspiration and ideas; you will create a painting together and take it home! Tickets are $40. Call 458.2028.

Anti-Valentine’s Day at the NB Library of Craft and Design. Have a party with us to celebrate the greatness of being a little bit cynical. We’ll create some black-out poetry, collages using imagery from old romance novels, and heartbreakers filled with candy. 12:10 – 12:50 p.m.

odd sundays at The Tipsy Muse presents Lindsey Byrd & Carla Gunn. Lindsey Byrd was brought up in upstate, downstate, and western New York. She is currently a graduate student at UNB studying the History of Medicine. Lindsey enjoys writing about complex and convoluted issues where finding the moral high-ground can be hard to do. She has a particular love for heroic villains and villainous heroes, as well as inverting and subverting tropes.

Carla Gunn keeps busy teaching courses at STU and UNB, dabbling in consulting, photography, dog-rescue, writing and keeping up on bad news stories about the environment. Her work has appeared in a number of places, including The Globe and Mail, University Affairs Magazine, and CBC radio. Amphibian, her first foray into fiction, is published in six languages, was short-listed for the Commonwealth Prize for best first novel and long-listed for Canada Reads 2020. She has a couple of other writing projects she’s been pecking at, both with environmental themes. 2 p.m.
