Count Basie Orchestra

Founded by William “Count” Basie in Kansas City in 1935, the group has included many of the greatest instrumentalists and vocalists in jazz, including Billie Holiday, Lester Young, Sweets Edison and many others. The orchestra has performed for royalty around the world, appeared in countless films and television shows, and has won 18 Grammy Awards – more than any other orchestra.

Today, under the leadership of director Scotty Barnhart, the Count Basie Orchestra continues to tour the world while upholding excellent standards in swinging and shouting the blues with precision. See this 18-piece legendary orchestra live to understand why they’re known as “the most explosive force in jazz.”

Sci-Fi-Double-FeatureInspired by action-adventure B-movies from the 1960s, Sci-Fi Double Feature is a magical collision of puppetry and film, scored with an original soundtrack. A true all-ages show, this one-of-a-kind performance features two fast-paced puppet shows captured live and simultaneously projected onto a big screen, linked by an original stop-motion animated film. Full of wit, anarchy and whimsy, Yukon-based Ramshackle Theatre provides a behind-the-scenes look at their clever puppetry, dynamic camera techniques and original sound effects to create an experience unlike any other.

This performance is presented in our intimate backstage studio space.
