Their laugh-out-loud podcast “Taggart & Torrens” has been sweeping the nation with their “Canadianity” concept and will be part of their hosting duties at FredRock this year. In addition to this announcement, FredRock has also added the last band of the festival, Toronto’s “HIGHS” who will be performing on Saturday night’s show. Previously announced on the Friday July 17th show are Monster Truck, Joel Plaskett Emergency, The Temperance Movement and The Stanfields. Saturday July 18th sees HIGHS join Blue Rodeo, Hey Rosetta!, The Wooden Sky, and Eastcoast Love Story.

About Taggart & Torrens:

“Taggart & Torrens” began as a podcast in late 2013. Since going up on iTunes in January 2015, the poddy already has over 400,000 downloads. Listeners respond to Taggart & Torrens’ combination of Tales from the Road along with relatable anecdotes from everyday occurrences. Mostly what fans of TnT seem to enjoy is the celebration of #Canadianity – a word Jeremy and Jonathan made up to encapsulate all that is good about being Canadian. Taggart is pumped to be a part of the festival, “Jonathan’s a Maritimer, I’m a rocker, so a rock fest in the Maritimes feels custom built for us!”

Torrens shares his enthusiasm, “Hosting FredRock Music Festival combines three of the things we love the most: outdoor rock shows, summer in the Maritimes and stately elms! We couldn’t be more excited.”

About HIGHS:

Described by Exclaim! as a band “that seem destined to go places quickly,” Toronto’s HIGHS have been rapidly building momentum with their unique approach to pop music.

Formed in late 2012, the band had its beginnings with a trio of bedroom demos created by guitarist and vocalist Doug Haynes. These demos, with their driving afro-‐beat rhythms, guitar hooks and layered harmonies, provided the initial musical foundation for the band when it expanded into a five-‐piece. The demo tracks were put out online, garnering recognition from a variety of international critics and providing the band with a foothold to play a significant number of shows including prominent Canadian festivals like NXNE and Canadian Music Week. These formative songs would have their sound developed and diversified when HIGHS officially formed with keyboardist Karrie Douglas, and guitarist Joel Harrower.

With the announcement of Taggart & Torrens and HIGHS, the lineup for this year’s FredRock Festival is now complete. These two additions round out two amazing nights of music for the festival’s seventh edition. Nick Zildjan (festival co-producer) agrees, “Taggart & Torrens are going to be a great addition to the weekend’s festivities. They are friends with many of this year’s artists, so we are looking forward to an amazing weekend of music & fun!”

Taggart & Torrens agree,  “The lineup is insane. The city is pumped. We’re fired up. Now all we need is a little sun!” – Taggart & Torrens
