When it comes to Fredericton blues/rock musician Richie Young, I feel like I’ve said it all already. I’ve been posting about Young’s music, his steady stream of eccentric videos and his fierce DIY ethic for years now. At this point, all I can really do is continue to share his work and hope that others are able to find and appreciate the uniqueness of his character, his humour and his music the same way I do.

I’ve referred to Young as being “the real deal” in the past and I think that still holds true. It’s a bit of a lofty and overused phrase but for me at least, it’s one that best describes someone who is confident in themselves and the art they make. That’s Richie, in a nutshell.

His latest single, Here Comes the Judge, follows in a similar vein to his past releases, distilling rock and roll down to its blues roots. But as with every new single he shares, Here Comes the Judge finds Young continuing to experiment with instrumentation and his desire to take the concept of a one-man-band to new heights. This time around he’s playing guitar, while accompanying himself on snare and bass drum and keyboards. Throw this already ambitious mix together with his well documented love for low concept/highly enjoyable video production and an uncanny flair for fashion and you’ve got yourself a perfect gateway to the weekend. Hopefully you’ll have as much fun as Young obviously had putin this package together. Enjoy!
