Last summer, Fredericton-based musician Dillon Anthony stepped out from the stages with the release of his acclaimed debut EP, Four Stories. Largely know for his work supporting other artists, live and in the studio, Anthony’s foray into the world of songwriting solidified his position as one of the city’s most versatile musical talents.

This past Friday, Anthony took to the city’s newest performance venue, Theatre New Brunswick’s intimate 98-seat studio theatre, and together with an impressive cast of Fredericton’s music elite, carried the sold-out crowd on a journey through the stories and music that make up his 2015 debut.

The evening performance, aptly titled Four Stories Live, was hosted by TNB Artistic Director Thomas Morgan Jones. Through spoken word, the use of simple props, lighting and a brief Q&A preceding each song, Jones helped bring the audience inside Anthony’s songwriting and the inspiration behind each tune’s lyrics and melodies.

Supported by a fourteen member ensemble, many of whom contributed to the original recording, Anthony was able to give his music its live debut and provide an evening that will long be remembered as one of the year’s most unique and memorable live music performances.

The evening ended with a short talk-back and a well-deserved standing ovation.
