Jenny Berkel announces new album and East Coast dates.
Montreal-based songwriter Jenny Berkel will join Michael Feuerstack for a short string of performances throughout the Maritimes near the end of April. Her new album, Pale Moon Kid, released April 15 via Pheromone Recordings and produced by Daniel Romano, is a collection of songs that pair Berkel’s low, rich voice with sparse, adventurous instrumentation.
Recorded last summer in Welland, Ontario, Berkel and Romano were joined in the studio by Berkel’s sister Kay on many of the tracks.
“The three of us spent eight days in the studio, building the songs layer by layer, coming up for breaths of fresh air and slices of Welland’s famed Rex’ pizza,” says Berkel. “I couldn’t be happier with the work we did together.”
Since the release of her debut album, Here on a Wire, Berkel has kept an active international tour schedule, both on her own and as part of Daniel Romano’s Trilliums band.
