odd sundays at Molly’s Coffee House

Category: arts 54

odd sundaysOn Sunday, April 5, 2015 at 2pm, odd sundays at Molly’s Coffee House (554 Queen Street) will feature poets, Kathleen Groves and Kathy Mac. We will also have an open set (up to 3 minutes each of pure gold) and a book draw.

Kathy Mac has published two books of poems: The Hundefräulein Papers (2009) and, Nail Builders Plan for Strength and Growth (2002), which won the Gerald Lampert Award and was a finalist for the Governor General’s Award. She has also published the analytico-poetic book of essays, Pain, Porn and Complicity: Women Heroes from Pygmalion to Twilight (2012), as Kathleen McConnell. Despite a typically peripatetic early writer’s life, she has mostly settled in Fredericton, New Brunswick where she teaches creative writing and literature at St. Thomas University.

Kathleen Groves, a fourth year student at St. Thomas University, is completing an honours degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. Currently, she is working on her thesis, a creative non-fiction memoir. Kathleen will be attending Dalhousie University next year to begin graduate work.

Future odd sundays events:

  • April 19, 2015: Get ready for a ‘catch up’ reading, with featured readers whose events were canceled over this pastseason. We’ll see how many, if any, can come read for us.
  •  May 3, 2015: Beth Powning (novelist, Sussex area), Jennifer Houle (local poet and new mother), Michael Pacey (local poet). This event will probably be lovely and crowded and fun.
