Adult Lullabies | Forward Music Group | February 19, 2016
As the one-year anniversary celebrating the release of his landmark album The Forgettable Truth quickly approaches, Michael Feuerstack is once again prepared to release some new music. His new five-song EP Adult Lullabies is a compilation of songs largely recorded during The Forgettable Truth sessions. While these type of collections usually go one of two ways – a decent group of songs that act as a companion to an earlier release, or a lack-luster set of unfinished tunes that didn’t make the A List for obvious reasons – Feuerstack again defies all assumption and expectation.
Adult Lullabies is an inspiring, thought-provoking journey through the everyday, cleverly mixing tempo, feel and instrumentation to create a short and welcomed escape from the rigors of the winter season.
From the solitary opening of Blue Light II with its stark minimal arrangement that immediately draws us in to Feuerstack’s rich, warm vocal tone, to the closing notes of Poor Everybody, we’re treated to a five distinct reasons why Feuerstack has been called a national treasure.
As with each of his releases, Adult Lullabies leaves us with catchy melodies to hum and beautiful lyrical phrases that linger for days.
“Maybe when you’re older you’ll be just like me, not standing in the crowd but watching on TV.”
Feuerstack is committed to showing us the beauty of life and the poetry that we unknowingly create by simply existing. He’s a focused observer who makes the mundane beautiful and opens our eyes to the broader world.
Adult Lullabies will be out February 19, 2016 and is now available for pre-order via Forward Music Group.
