Music Runs Through It’s February Lineup

Category: music 72

February sees Music Runs Through It program first show at the Fredericton Playhouse. This and more in the month ahead.

Dave Gunning & J.P. Cormier

Dave Gunning and J.P. Cormier have been good buddies and musical compadres since the mid-1990s when J.P. returned from Nashville and Dave was looking for a fiddler to fill in at the last minute for a show. Performing, touring and recording together whenever they could over the years, they finally formalized the partnership with the release of their first album together entitled TWO. The album reflects what they do best on stage—collaborating on new songs, rearranging old folk standards, and having some laughs in the process.

Lockdown Trio

Two master pianists and one award-winning drummer feeding off of the other’s energy. Each capable of carrying the song but sharing the musical pallet with the others to intensify the soulful blues that these men call home. The result is a groove like no other. Comprised of Chris Kirby, Kim Dunn and Geoff Arsenault, each of these front men is also a professional sideman, bringing their own unique harmony and accent styles to offer a truly dynamic show.

The BackYard Devils

The story of the BackYard Devils started when lead singer and lyricist Erik Arsenault decided to return to the East Coast after spending a few years out West. The roadtrip back proved to be much fruitful when the singer and his brother Rémi (vocals, bass) decided to start a dirty country and bluegrass band that would cater to the young and old. They recruited Christien Belliveau, a talented and highly demanded guitar player with a love for roots music and Dillon Robicheau, a seasoned bluegrass mandolin and banjo player out of Nova Scotia to help create the vision. With a swinging guitar rhythm, doghouse bass slaps, smashing guitar solos and lightning quick banjo and mandolin lines, The BackYard Devils managed to hammer down their own sound in an old fashion style, just like the brothers had planned.
