Celebrated songwriter Steve Poltz will perform May 15 at Dolan’s Pub as part of Music Runs Through It’s ongoing Up Close & Personal Series.
What does it take to be known as one of the most talented and prolific songwriters of our time? That’s a pretty hefty title for any musician to carry and certainly not one bestowed upon just anyone. But according to freelance music journalist Joe Daly who penned Poltz’ latest bio, it’s a fitting description.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Poltz has spent most of his life living in Southern California where first made a name for himself as a highly prolific and charismatic songwriter and performer.
His songs are among the longest running ever on the Billboard Top 100 charts and his music can be heard in movies and on television. In 2000, he was named San Diego’s Most Influential Artist of the Decade and his album Answering Machine is a favourite of Neil Young’s.
But besides all the much-deserved praise he has received over his 30 odd years as a performer, Poltz shines the brightest on stage where he brings humour, satire, and an artist’s palette of emotion to each performance.
So, what does it take to be known as one of the most talented and prolific songwriters of our time? See for yourself when Poltz returns to Fredericton to perform as part of Music Runs Through It’s Up Close & Personal series, May 15 at Dolan’s Pub.
