Music Runs Through It invites you to join The Hypochondriacs for a very special 5th anniversary event.

Music Runs Through It 5 Years

Established in March 2012, Music Runs Through It has reported on live music events and presented numerous musicians both local and travelling.  To mark this 5th anniversary, Music Runs Through It is inviting everyone to join in a unique, first-time-in-Fredericton event.

This evening of song will have a part for everyone to play. The intent is to gather 100+ voices together in singing a couple of classic songs. Lyrics and instructions will be provided and everyone will enjoy the vibrations as the songs move through you. This is in celebration of the vibrant local music scene here in Fredericton and highlight how community participation is key.

The Hypochondriacs will lead in the songs, and Moon Joyce and Alex Good will provide arrangements and will teach the songs.  Will Beatty with Apricity Media is bringing his team to document the event to allow the songs to live on forever in this form. This is a true community event in every sense as the community all have a part to play in order to make this a success.

This idea is based on the concept of ‘choir choir choir’ based in Toronto.  It is an open participation group where anybody who wants to attend is welcome to perform as part of the choir. Performance will revolve around three songs, starting with Moon and Alex teaching the songs’ arrangements to the participants, and culminating in a live performance of the songs with The Hypochondriacs.

Tell your friends! Help spread the word. Make it a night out and be part of something special.

“The vision which drove me to initially start the website remains” said Emma Chevarie, founder of Music Runs Through It.  “As the mighty Saint John River runs through this beautiful capital city, so runs some mighty fine music in many locations and in many styles.

“I was often asked what’s happening for music around town, so I decided to start the blog to share the musical happenings of Fredericton”, she said.

Each week Chevarie compiles information on upcoming gigs and offers it for your consideration and, hopefully, participation.

“Musicians put much effort and passion into preparing and sharing their craft, but without an audience with which to share it things just aren’t as fulfilling or fun,” she says. “In my opinion, there is a wonderful, dare I say sometimes magical, exchange of energy between performer and observer which really cannot be duplicated.  For that reason, and to support our local economy, I encourage everyone to get out to a show and experience live music up close and personal. Come out and let the music move you!”

Since its inception Music Runs Through It has reported on 260 weeks’ worth of live music events, become a contributor to Fredericton Tourism’s Town Square Social Hub, presented 31 shows in partnership with Corked Wine Bar and numerous shows at various venues around town including Roxstone Café, Charlotte Street Arsts Centre, Grimross Brewing Co. and Wilser’s Room.

“The list of artists I’ve had the opportunity to work with both local and travelling through is lengthy and impressive” says Chevarie, who received the 2016 Diane London Award for contributions to the musical community.

“There are so many people to thank for the support I’ve received over these past five years and beyond. The music industry may not be easy, but it is a community to which I’m a happy contributor and look forward to watching its evolution as time marches on.”
