mrholmes_webMr. Holmes is a 2015 crime drama mystery film directed by Bill Condon, based on the 2005 novel A Slight Trick of the Mind written by Mitch Cullinand. In 1947, the long-retired Sherlock Holmes (Ian McKellen), aged 93, lives in a remote Sussex farmhouse with his housekeeper, Mrs. Munro (Laura Linney), and her young son, Roger (Milo Parker). Holmes reflects on his life while writing in his journals, tending to his bees, and dealing with the deterioration of his once incredible mind. He finds himself haunted by an unsolved 50-year old case. His memory isn’t what it used to be, so he only remembers fragments of the case: a confrontation with an angry husband, a secret bond with his beautiful but unstable wife. The film uses flashbacks to reveal events of the past, when he was still at the height of his fame and mental ability at 221B Baker Street consulting rooms.
