Bathurst rock trio Messe have shared the first single from their forthcoming EP and it is a banger.. Révolution is a welcomed reminder that music – and good music at that – is being made in the parts of the province we rarely hear from, like Bathurst.

Embodying the look, feel and influence of early heavy metal, Messe’s latest single and the EP to follow will no doubt establish the band’s unique position among New Brunswick’s heavy music makers and audiences.

Révolution is a big step forward for the group and a strong indication they may have found the sound they have been searching for. If you take a listen to the band’s 2021 debut EP Connemara PL, you will hear a very different sounding Messe – young, undecided on which direction to follow, and eager to get something recorded. As debuts so often go, Connemara PL served its purpose as an introduction. But if Révolution is any indication as to what we can expect from the forthcoming EP set to arrive in February, I’d say Messe, with their throwback style of heavy rock are destined to become a band we will all be familiar with in the not too distant future.
