Fredericton FROSTival is bigger and better with over 100 events!
Already Atlantic Canada’s largest winter celebration, FROSTival is growing bigger and better with more events than ever and some new cool offerings! This year’s celebrations include more than 100 events over four jam packed weekends from January 23 – February 15.
Entering its third year, FROSTival includes the region’s best outdoor festivals, events, and indoor cultural experiences.
“FROSTival really has something for everyone” says Stacey Russell, Fredericton Tourism. “From families, cultural enthusiasts, foodies and everyone in between, there’s a broad mix of both indoor and outdoor festivals and events to fit all needs. Plus we’re very excited for some new partner events that have been added to this year’s celebrations”.
Of those new events is the NB HopSpiel, a weekend of curling downtown in Officers’ Square which will bring history back to life in the Historic Garrison District. The NB HopSpiel, taking place February 6 & 7, includes a fun outdoor curling event made up of teams of 4 as well as a chili cook-off with downtown restaurants and craft beer offerings.
Also new for 2015, Winterfesthiver will expand to 2 weekends (February 7 & 8 and 14 & 15) at the Capital Exhibit Centre Grounds. Enjoy their famous gigantic ice slides and snow maze, dog sledding, sleigh rides, horse & pony rides, and more. New this year, enjoy hands-on activities at their new Artisans’ Winter Market and come back at night for some live entertainment at their Winterfesthiver Rocks the Night.
“This is a great initiative that comes at a time of year where Frederictonians and New Brunswickers are looking to get out of the house” says City of Fredericton Deputy Mayor Eric Meggarity. “FROSTival offers a full slate of options on things to do in the Capital City!”
