Fog Lake is a lo-fi, pop influenced recording project by Newfoundland musician Aaron Powell. Through several releases spanning the past four years, Powell has cultivated an endearing and very personally sounding sonic esthetic.

Last week he released the new single, rattlesnake, via the Toronto/New York imprint, Orchid Tapes, as a lead up to a forthcoming full-length album which he has described as “a collage of nostalgic vignettes”.

“I think there’s a sense of warmth through reflection that’s nice to capture in music,” says Powell. “I do feel like most of my songs are pictures from another time, but sometimes they can even be portraits of the future, and I won’t even realize until that time comes. Most of my songs are rooted from a very specific time in my life, but there’s a whole bunch of different themes floating around in my songs that deal with then, now and later.”

Fog Lake is currently on tour through Ontario and Quebec before heading east for a series of mid-April shows in Fredericton, Sackville and Halifax.

April 14 – Fredericton, NB – The Capital Complex

April 15 – Sackville, NB – Thunder & Lightning

April 16 – Halifax, NS – Gus’ Pub

All dates with Beach Body.
