Fundraiser for Pride Week Festivities

10990803_959142590792946_593101341591909841_nThe Fredericton Pride Committee will be hosting a Coffee House and Silent Auction on Friday, March 20 at 6:30pm at the Roxstone Cafe. Guests will be able to browse donated items while listening to talented local artists sing, play music, and read poetry. Food and drink will be available to purchase from the lovely staff at Roxstone Cafe. Admission is $5; money raised will go toward costs needed during Pride Week, including our fifth annual Parade and Festival.
If you are also interested in participating in the 2015 Parade and Festival, applications will be available by request. Pride Week and the events leading up to it are very important to our community. Pride week is the one time of the year when sexual minority groups find visibility in the larger Fredericton community. It is a chance to raise awareness and celebrate our diversity. We understand poetry and song is a venue for sharing your experiences; however, this is an all ages event and we would like it to be a safe space for everyone. For that reason, we are asking performers not to share pieces with triggering content. We are talking big trigger issues such as violence, suicide, and self-harm. It is OK to express some anger, frustration and sadness.
