This film is a special screening held in conjunction with the Silver Wave Film Festival and director Julien Cadieux, a Moncton native, will be on hand to introduce his film and stay for the discussion following the film.

This beautiful award-winning film tells the story of one of the first openly Trans artists in Canada. The story of Guilda, the timeless beauty of the golden age of Montreal cabaret culture, and of Jean Guilda, originally from France, who lent her his body and life. Guilda was known as the “Marilyn Monroe of Music Hall” in the 1950s in Montreal. More than just a celebration of this irreplaceable artist, the film pays homage to the once thriving swirl of cabarets and is a love letter to Montreal and parenthood, a tribute to the majesty of fleet-footed time, and a reminder of the impact of being oneself.

This film will be shown in French with English subtitles. Films are free and donations welcome. To view the trailer and more info visit: http://www.cinemapolitica.org/screening/fredericton/guilda-elle-est-bien-dans-ma-peau
