Cinema Politica Fredericton Screens: “Forbidden Love”

Category: movies 1,322

Forbidden_Love_LGThe remastered classic documentary “Forbidden Love: The Unashamed Stories of Lesbian Lives” delves into the rich history of Canadian queer women’s experiences in the mid-20th century. Compelling, hilarious and rebellious, the women interviewed in this film tell stories about their search for places where openly gay women gathered in urban centres. Frank interviews, archival footage, and a stylized fictional narrative based on the pulp novels of the 1950s are woven throughout this funny, heartbreaking, and empowering film.

An optional discussion will follow the film. Films are free to the public. Donations are welcome to help with network membership fees. (Washrooms are not accessible, sorry.
