A Tribute to the Late Fredericton Poet Joe Blades

The upcoming memorial exhibition The Slow Word Uncurls will include a memorial reading and display honouring the work and creative legacy of Fredericton poet Joe Blades.

(Fredericton) Joe Blades brought his passion for poetry with him everywhere, much like the journals that were his constant companion. Joe was a poet, a publisher, an artist, and champion of the literary arts. He passed away April 22nd, 2020, at age 58, leaving behind a wealth of written and artistic contributions that span 40 years of hard work and reflect a tenacious dedication to art making and promotion.

Members of the public are invited to join Joe’s friends, colleagues, and family to pay tribute to his life and work. A special thanks to UNB Libraries, UNB Arts Centre and City of Fredericton for their generous support of these events.

Memorial Reading: UNB, Harriet Irving Library, Event Space (rm 318), 7-9 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2022. Refreshments and gifts of Joe’s work will be provided. Please consult UNB’s masking policy.
