Royal Canoe’s 30 date North American tour in support of the new album Something Got Lost Between Here and the Orbit includes one New Brunswick performance – October 20 at the Capital Complex in Fredericton.

On their latest recording, the Winnipeg sextet worked with producer Ben Allen (Gnarls Barkley, Animal Collective, Deerhunter) who has been credited for helping strengthen the group’s vocal and rhythmic-based sound.

Reinforcing their vocal and percussive core allowed them to be more adventurous with experimentation; more determined in their ongoing pursuit of the elusive musicality that can be found in collisions between digital and analogue worlds. In addition to their usual buffet of synthesizers, effects pedals and homemade samples, late nights lead to rabbit-holes of attaching contact mics to water bottles to play them like percussion instruments and convoluting synths through beluga whale field recordings.

Something Got Lost Between Here and the Orbit was released September 19, 2016.  (You can stream the album here)

The band’s previous recording, the JUNO nominated Today We’re Believers was released nearly three years ago. In that time, Royal Canoe have logged over 200 live performances including tours with Alt-J and Bombay Bicycle Club as well as performances at Bonnaroo, Iceland Airwaves, and Osheaga. Don’t miss your chance to catch the band as they play the coziest stage on the East Coast.
