Friday
The Doors/Fleetwood Mac Tribute Night at Grimross Brewing Co. A double tribute night to take you back to the 70s, we will have local musicians teaming up to bring you a throwback night in support of Living Roots Music Festival and Tay Creek Folk Festival. 8 p.m. $15.
Marian EP release w/ Aftersurf & Jerry Faye at The Capital. Fronted by singer/songwriter/guitarist Dylan Ward, Marian is a quartet of familiar faces, as Ward, drummer Stefan Westner, bassist Evan LeBlanc and lead guitarist Tim Everett have been cheered on by club and festival goers between Halifax and Toronto during tours as members of other bands that frequented both plus all the major centres in between. Debut EP on the way! Let’s help them celebrate. Doors at 9. Show at 10. $8.
Artists’ Choice, Inscape & Fredericton Collective Light open at Gallery 78. Artists’ Choice will feature new work by Daniel Porter, Jessie Babin, Joanne Hunt, David McKay, RFM McInnis, Richard Montpetit, Ann Balch, Gerard Collins, Amber Leger, Anna Cameron, Isabelle Lafargue and Réjean Roy.
Inscape is “The unique essence or inner nature of a person, place, thing, or event, especially depicted in poetry or a work of art.” This is the end of year exhibition for the emerging professional metal smiths, textile artists, and potters in the NB College of Craft and Design’s Advanced Studio Practice (ASP) program. Artists featured will be Anja Sucura, Kelsey Hines, Joanna Richardson, Melissa Booker, Arcassa Hone and Mary Beth Piper. This exhibition continues until June 21.
SilverFish Photography Collective presents Fredericton Collective Light wherein members explore the city’s beauty, secrets and narratives resulting in delightfully fresh perspectives. This exhibition continues until June 30. Join the artists on Friday, June 7 from 5 – 7 p.m.
Big Screen Basketball at Picaroons Roundhouse. The Raptors game is on the BIG screen once again at Devon City Hall aka The Picaroons Roundhouse!!! This is going to be the Biggest game yet and they‘ll have more food, more cider, more BEER and MORE FUN!!! 10 p.m.
Saturday
All-Ages Family Storytelling Concert at Marhsall d’Avary Hall Auditorium. As part of the Storytellers of Canada Conference, there will be a Saturday evening Storytelling Concert. You will hear the beloved Sheree Fitch, travel with a Voyageur, romp with Jack in a Newfoundland tale, and hear other delightful stories. 7:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per adult, and children under 12 get in for free.
This Frontier Needs Heroes at Grimross Brewing Co. This Frontier Needs Heroes is the moniker of singer-songwriter Brad Lauretti. His determination and DIY ethos has brought him on an epic journey around the world, playing clubs, houses, and festivals. Doors at 7. Show 8. $15.
Like a Motorcycle + Dizzy and his Kittens + Unholy Freqs at The Capital. Like a Motorcycle is a melee attack with a soundtrack. They deliver poignant earworms for their fellow disenfranchised rejects; working minimum wage jobs while dodging five-figure debt. Unholy FREQS have been lurking in the shadows on the edge of the Fredericton music scene waiting for the right moment to emerge. Pulling influences from a wide variety of genres such as funk, blues, reggae/ska, high energy rock and punk they have created a unique sound that will have listeners grooving in one moment and ready to start a mosh pit in the next. 10 p.m. $8.
Dance Fredericton presents Rhythms of nature at The Fredericton Playhouse. In this year’s recital, Dance Fredericton’s Junior and Senior students will be celebrating the rhythms of nature and the beauty all around us. Two shows. 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. $12.75 – $20.75
Chris Colepaugh at The Tipsy Muse Café. With southern-inspired soul and a heaping dose of the blues, multiple award-winning Canadian Chris Colepaugh delivers a powerhouse of driving rhythms, crunchy guitar licks, and badass vocals. As the multiple award-winning frontman of the group Chris Colepaugh and the Cosmic Crew and Gold City Ashes, he has performed at prestigious festivals such as SXSW, CMW, NXNE, NEMO, Evolve, Canadian Music Cafe and has spent more than two decades actively touring Canada and the United States.7 p.m. $15.
Sunday
Angelina Lynn & Juan Gonzalo Jiminez Concert at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Moncton’s Angelina Lynn (soprano) and Columbian pianist Juan Gonzalo Jiminez, are delighted to present a recital of solo piano works and art song. Both are pursuing their Doctor of Music degrees in performance at the University of Laval in Quebec City. The program will include well-known works by Schumann, Chopin, and Ravel, as well as some extraordinarily beautiful pieces by Colombian composers Jaime Leon and Luis Calvo. 7 p.m. $15.
Flower Inspired at the Muse Cafe with Reuben Mark Stewart. A hands on flower arranging workshop. Book your spot for June 9th at The Muse Cafe in Downtown Fredericton. The ABBA Show at the Fredericton Playhouse. Direct from Australia, the world’s premier live ABBA tribute is coming to town.
