One of Canada’s Most Celebrated Songwriters Performs at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre

Prince Edward Island singer/songwriter Lennie Gallant returns to the city tonight with a performance at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre.  This is his fifth stop on a ten date tour through New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in support of his latest release, Live Acoustic at The Carleton, a collection of 16 songs, both old and new.

It’s been a busy year for Gallant.  In June he released a book of lyrics together with his sister, visual artist Karen Gallant, offering the two island siblings a long-overdue opportunity to finally work together. His latest album garnered two Canadian Folk Music Award Nominations for Solo Artist of the Year and English Songwriter of the Year.  Lennie will perform at the 10th anniversary awards gala on November 29 at the Bronson Centre in Ottawa.

Compelling melodies and acoustic arrangements that focus the listener’s attention on some of the finest narrative lyrics this prolific songsmith has written…a poet whose pleasant tenor belies the rocker we’ve heard in many earlier recordings. “This set of radio friendly, folk influenced pop songs brings Chris Isaak to mind.
