With the third annual Living Roots Music Festival is just over a month away, organizers continue to roll out a few surprises. Today they announced the addition of several spoken word performers for a showcase performance they’re calling Live Words. The event will take place Saturday May 26 at The Abbey Café beginning at 5:30 p.m..

“I really like the idea of mixing music and poetry,” said festival founder Eddie Young. “We’ve always had some poetry at the festival. I feel it’s a forgotten art form locally.”

Local author and storyteller Corey Redekop will headline the performance at The Abbey Café. Earlier in the day, poet and writer Maisie McNaughton will perform an afternoon set at Wilser’s Room with percussionist Andrew Spurway.

Tickets and passes are on sale for all performances. For schedule ticket info and performance schedules, GO HERE, and make a point to add Living Roots Music Festival to your May calendar.
