Solo Chicken Foster Compassion Through Latest Project

I Am Here – Postcards from the Edge, a collaborative exhibition project between River Stone Recovery Centre and Solo Chicken Productions, opens November 16.

Solo Chicken Productions have teamed up with the River Stone Recovery Centre to create a new project aimed at fostering compassion and championing the dignity everyone deserves regardless of social inequalities.

Both organizations wish to extend an invitation to the community to join them on November 16 at the Fredericton Public Library’s HUB for the opening of an exhibition of photography, art and poetry. The exhibition features original poetry from the participants and the staff of the centre, created collaboratively with Solo Chicken Artistic Producer Lisa Anne Ross, portraits by photographer Kelly Baker and oil portraits from artist David Porter.

Sponsored by Atlantic Mentorship Network – New Brunswick, the exhibition is a part of the larger I AM HERE – Postcards from the Edge community arts project, meant to foster compassion in our community for the participants of River Stone Recovery Centre, a treatment and support center for people experiencing substance use disorders. Since April 2023, centre participants and staff have worked weekly with Ross talking, writing, and building a creative and personal relationship.  The result is a collection of deeply personal poetry and intimate portraits by Kelly Baker that are being turned into quietly public postcards that will be shared widely with the community.

Exhibition is open to the public from November 16 – December 16, 2023. An opening reception will take place Thursday November 16 from 6-7:45 p.m. A light meal and refreshments will be served. All are welcome.
