River Jam is returning to the Delta Fredericton on Friday, July 7 after a three year absence, sharing performances from over 100 musicians and the introduction of a new community city arts award.

One of Fredericton’s favourite local music events of the summer, River Jam, is returning to the Delta Fredericton on Friday, July 7 after a three year absence. This community-centered gathering will feature over 100 local musicians on five stages under one roof.

This year’s River Jam lineup will feature 22 local bands playing everything from blues, R&B, and funk to country, jazz and rock and roll. The music kicks off at 5:00 p.m. and will flow throughout the night, wrapping up with an all-artist session.

All participating musicians will donate their time to raise funds in support of local music programs and community projects.

As River Jam returns this summer, so does the Diane London Award along with a change to its criteria in its 16th year of being presented. In past years, the Diane London Award has been exclusively available to women in our local music community who best exemplify a creative spirit and talent, and who give back to the community. Named in honour of Diane London, a passionate arts supporter and organizer who passed away in 2004, the decision has been made to open this award to all who identify as female.

In addition to the Diane London Award, the 2023 River Jam event will introduce a new award to the city’s arts and culture community. The inaugural Tony George Award, named in honour local businessman and musician Tony George, will be introduced this year. This new award was created to honour and recognize a local business known for its support of the arts.
