Meet This Week’s City of Fredericton Artists in Residence

Artists continue to create in Fredericton green spaces this week as part of the City’s summer Artist in Residence program.

The City of Fredericton’s summer artist in residence series continues this week with cellist Emily Kennedy creating at Odell Park and photographer Sarah Sarty capturing the magic of Fredericton Botanic Gardens. 

The public is invited to interact with the artists to learn about their work online and in-person, while maintaining appropriate distancing guidelines. All artists participating in this summer’s residencies will be sharing their work and giving regular updates on social media. You can learn more this week’s artists through the links below.

Fredericton-based cellist, improviser, and composer, with a Master of Music Performance (University of Ottawa). She has taught, participated in many residencies, and performed around the world.

Emily will create new work that integrates field recordings sourced from the park into a series of compositions.

Social Media: Daily postings of work in Instagram and weekly postings of her new pieces combined with video footage sourced from the park.

Sarah Sarty is a photographer who explores traditional practices through film and gum bichromate printing. Employing natural conditions and chemistry behind transferring negatives, Sarah explores this process to capture the park’s natural complexity.

Both Kennedy and Sarty will be in residence August 3-14.
