The Fredericton Playhouse Spotlight Series presents high-energy, groundbreaking world music band Lemon Bucket Orkestra.
A self-proclaimed Balkan-klezmer-gypsy-party-punk-superband, Lemon Bucket Orkestra was born on the streets of Toronto as a busking band in 2010. Since then, the original quartet of guerrilla-folk troubadours has grown to encompass 16 members and has toured all over the world.
Lemon Bucket Orkestra has been nominated for several awards, heralded as groundbreaking by international media, and has performed at numerous international festivals, but their greatest achievement is their ability to embody the dynamic space between “home” and “exotic” and to welcome audiences into the celebration of that space.
Full of unbridled energy, Lemon Bucket Orkestra pulls audiences in with reworked Balkan and Eastern European folk songs spiked with a signature blend of funk, punk, psychedelia, blues and swing. Incorporating an impressive array of influences and instruments into their performance, this is a truly unique and adventurous act that inspires joy in all who have the chance to see them live.
The Playhouse also invites ticketholders to join them prior to the show at 6:30 p.m. for a beer-tasting. Picaroons will be on hand with a variety of beer to sample during this special event.
