FredRock Music Festival has announced its 2015 dates for Friday July 17 and Saturday July 18. The two-day festival takes place in the heart of Downtown Fredericton at City Hall Grounds. The festival will see many fans from the Fredericton area as well as from around the Maritimes and northeastern US. It is a popular tourist destination in the middle of the summer in one of Canada’s most picturesque cities.

FredRock 2015

The 2015 edition of FredRock marks the seventh year of the festival and second at its current site. The first was in 2009 and took place at the Fredericton Raceway (Capital Exhibit Centre). Then from 2010 to 2013, the festival called the Loyalist Rugby Grounds home. Last year saw the festival change its home to the current site at City Hall Grounds (York Street Parking Lot). The current site holds up to 3,500 fans in a partially covered, open air venue and is wheel chair accessible. This venue puts the festival in the heart of the city and gave organizers and festival goers the perfect ‘rain or shine’ venue. In 2014, the new venue packed in over 5,000 fans over the weekend to see international artists such as Billy Talent and Ed Kowalchuk from the band LIVE. Joining them to round out last year’s lineup were The Trews, Sass Jordan, I Mother Earth, One Bad Son, Andee, Glorious Sons, Alert the Medic.

“We are truly grateful for the support the community has provided us,” said Nick Zildjan, Festival Director & Co-Producer. “Right from the first year, we’ve had amazing support from music fans, local businesses, and the city of Fredericton.  A big thank you to everyone for their support so far.”

FredRock is one of the region’s best and most diverse musical festivals having played host to international acts like The Black Crowes, AWOLNATION, Buckcherry, Sebastian Bach, LIVE, Steve Earle and the Dukes as well as popular Canadian performers such as Billy Talent and City And Colour. In addition to these large Canadian and international bands, the festival remains committed to regional talent development having created performance opportunities in front of large audiences for developing regional acts such as Alert the Medic and Carleton Stone as well as more established acts such as Joel Plaskett Emergency and Matt Mays.

“FredRock has established itself as one of the region’s premier music events,” said Fredericton Tourism Manager, David Seabrook.  “Fans from Fredericton and all over Atlantic Canada anxiously wait to hear what top rock acts will be featured in the lineup. If you’re a music fan, downtown Fredericton is the place you want to be in July.”

The festival is locally produced with the support of many local merchants, suppliers, and local government.

“Summer is the time when Downtown comes alive with festivals and events,” said Bruce McCormack, General Manager, Downtown Fredericton Inc.  “We were pleased that FredRock relocated in Downtown Fredericton. The new setup for FredRock worked out very well and added a new perspective to this quality Festival. We are excited to hear all about this year’s lineup. It’s a great festival.”

The past six years have created high expectations for this year’s lineup and the buzz has been building. The expected lineup announcement is set for Monday March 23, 2015 with festival organizers very much excited to be able to announce to the public.

“I’m very excited to be able to announce this year’s lineup,” said Zildjan.  “There is something in there for everyone, and builds on the successes we’ve had in the past. I expect this to be our most successful festival to date and can’t wait to let everyone know who’s playing when we announce on March 23!”
