TNB Launch New Season with Classic Thriller – October 23-25 at The Playhouse

_MG_2978Theatre New Brunswick launch their first all-New Brunswick professional season with a 40th anniversary of production of TNB’s classic thriller, Frankenstein, The Man Who Became God at the Fredericton Playhouse, October 23-25.  This critically acclaimed play written by Alden Nowlan and Walter Learning broke box office records when it premiered on the Playhouse stage and has since garnered the reputation as being the essential stage adaptation of the Mary Shelley’s classic novel.

“I am so excited to be kicking off our first ever all New Brunswick professional season with the 40th anniversary production of Frankenstein,” said Susan Ready, TNB’s General Manager.  “I am delighted to be part of such a fantastic creation, celebrating this beautiful work and its talented playwrights.  There’s an incredible wealth of talent involved in this production. The cast, creative team and all the dedicated staff at TNB are working hard to bring another great production to the stage.”

The production, starring Ted Atherton and Andrew Jackson, brings together an incredibly talented cast and creative team, mixing many well-known New Brunswick theatre artists and accomplished actors and designers from across the country including former TNB Artistic Producer Caleb Marshall, who will direct the production.

“Of the many out there, I feel this adaptation of Frankenstein is the definitive one – the one that plays closest homage to the Mary Shelley novel,” said Marshall.  “This play does not give birth to a mindless monster akin to the B-movie horror films of the last century, rather it creates an articulate creature with complicated feelings and desires, a creature we both fear and pity.”

Frankenstein, The Man Who Became God runs October 23 – 25 at The Playhouse Thurs. – Sat. at 7:30 pm with a matinee Sat. at 2 pm.
