Melbourne, Australia duo Charm of Finches are currently touring Atlantic Canada. Following up a recent showcase at Contact East and a performance Halifax Urban Folk Festival, sisters Mabel and Ivy Windred-Wornes will be playing shows in Charlottetown and Fredericton over the coming week as they make their way to Ontario for dates with Jenn Grant.

Charm of Finches’ latest album, Wonderful Oblivion, has a unique Canadian connection. Released in 2021, the album was co-produced by Daniel Ledwell (Jenn Grant, Oh Pep!).

“We did this online,” said the sisters, speaking with MRTI Radio host Rob Pinnock (full interview below). “We recorded it back in Australia and then we’d send him the files. We made this album in about six months.”

Wonderful Oblivion was released through the New York-based label AntiFragile Music and went on to win Best Folk Album at the Australian Folk Music Awards. Inspired by its success, Charm of Finches traveled to Nova Scotia in February of this year to record their fourth full length album (due out in 2024), this time in Ledwell’s home studio just outside of Halifax.
