Two New Brunswick music festivals share a love for our collective digits.

Area 506 imageLast week, organizers in Saint John announced a new summer festival with an impressive lineup that includes Matt Anderson and the Bona Fide, July Talk, Big Sugar and Grace Potter among others. The event, Area 506, is scheduled to take place over three days, beginning July 29, 2016.

The new festival joins a long list of New Brunswick music events including Festival (506), the rebranded MNB Week which adopted its new title last year.

Following the announcement of this new festival to the province’s summer lineup, Music•Musique NB (MNB) released a statement hoping to diffuse any potential confusion that could result from two similar sounding, music focused events.

“While MNB applauds all community-based events which promote and celebrate New Brunswick culture, we recognize that there may be confusion regarding the branding of this new event with the 506 name,” explains Jean Surette, Executive Director of MNB. “We congratulate the committee members of this new event in Saint John and would welcome the opportunity to work with Area 506 to help them achieve their goal of highlighting New Brunswick artists.”F506_LOGO_trans_EN

So just to be clear, Festival (506) is four days of concerts, conferences, and industry awards organized by the province’s music industry association. Area 506 is a three-day event that will take place at The Port of Saint John. Both events will feature top-notch NB talent and are totally forth checking out.

If you plan to celebrate the three digits we call home at either point this year, more information on both festivals can be found here:
