No! No! No!

Do NOT spend your evenings streaming movies and watching mindless television.  This is a really special time of the year with summer events coming to a close and fall events just beginning.  The best of both worlds.  Out with the old, in with the new, right?  And if you’re just arriving in town (students, we’re looking in your direction), evenings are a great time to get out and see what makes Fredericton tick.

Do Not #1

Do NOT miss your chance to celebrate Theatre New Brunswick’s new season of theatre as well as the grand opening of their brand new 98 seat studio theatre.  The season begins this week with the world premiere production, You Play Beautifully, written and directed by Thomas Morgan Jones, staring Byron Abalos and featuring sound design and composition by Michael Doherty with light design by award-winning designer Michelle Ramsay.

You Play Beautifully | TNB Studio Theatre | Sept 9-13, 2015 | 7:30 p.m. (with 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday) Buy Tickets

Do Not #2

Do NOT miss your opportunity to enjoy the last concert in this year’s outdoor summer concert series at Officer’s Square.  Catch local favourites Sleepy Driver performing this Thursday.  This concert is free so bring your lawn chairs (and maybe a blanket), grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the sounds of a Fredericton original.

Sleepy Driver | Officer’s Square, Downtown Fredericton | September 10, 2015 | 6:30 p.m. | FREE

Do Not #3

Do NOT miss your chance to check out another edition of the New Brunswick Provincial Exhibition. Formerly known as The FREX (and always known as a fun adventure), this event keeps a long running tradition alive while at the same time, moving the idea in new directions. You will see a collection of prize-winning vegetables and baked goods, a livestock show, harness racing, midway rides, games and delicious food vendors, magic tricks, dog tricks, human tricks… Just about everything under the sun happens at the NBPE.

New Brunswick Provincial Exhibition | Capital Exhibit Centre | September 6-12, 2015 | More info

Do Not #4

Do NOT miss your chance to enjoy music at Connexion ARC this week. Known for hosting music performances of the engaging and eccentric nature, often steering as far from Pop as imaginable, Connexion ARC’s Impossible Dinner Party series has yet to disappoint. This week you can hear:

Property+Quaker Parents+Luka+Construction & Deconstruction | Connexion ARC | September 10, 2015 | 8 p.m. | $7 ($5 for youth).

Do Not #5

Do NOT sit home again this year wondering if you’ll even have the opportunity to try your hand at acting. That’s just silly. Don’t do it. Instead, why not contact Fredericton’s Next Folding Theatre Company and book yourself an audition? NFTC are one of the province’s most forward-thinking theatre companies and with the recent announcement of another great season in the works, this may very well be YOUR YEAR to act, so, act now! No experience required.

Next Folding Theatre Company – Season Auditions | James Dunn Hall – Room JDG1 | September 9, 10 & 13, 2015 | 6-8 p.m. | More info
