A quick run through the limited events happening this week in the world of art, music and community.

The TNB Theatre School has announced plans for limited summer programming, beginning at the end of June and running through until August.

June 10

UNB Art Centre presents Design Works Wednesdays: Create at Home Series. Join the UNB Art Centre on Facebook for a series of live workshops each Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.

June 11

Dead Levee + Mitch Rayner + Caleb Painter takeover Roots & Soul. Every Thursday Roots & Soul give three artists access to their Facebook page for 60 minutes each to do as they please. These are meant to be fun and interactive. Tune in on the Roots & Soul Music Promotions page this Thursday evening beginning at 7 p.m.

June 13

Healing Walk in Memory and Justice for Chantel Moore. Organizers are calling upon all Indigenous Peoples and Allies to walk in Ikatomone (eek-gut-moh-neh) for all Missing and Murdered Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA. Chantel Moore died at the hands of the police only one day after the one-year anniversary of the National Inquiry of MMIWG Report. View Event.

June 14

Roots & Soul Sunday’s Online. This Sunday, Roots & Soul will bring you four acts playing 40-45 minutes each. The evening’s lineup includes David Somerville (5 p.m.), Jenn LeBlanc (5:45 p.m.), Rick Sparkles & The Enablers (6:30 p.m.) and Kylie Fox plays Joni Mitchell (7:30 p.m. in a separate feed). For more information, visit HERE. We will be collecting donations that will be split between the artists to help offset their financial losses due to COVID-19.

Ongoing:

Cycle to Break the Cycle – A Domestic Violence Awareness Bike-a-Thon. Due to COVID-19 the need for shelters for those who experience domestic violence has increased. Feels Good Community Inc has felt a call to action and we want you to join us for the Cycle to Break the Cycle. To take part you have two options, either find pledges of $10 per km, or pay a registration fee of $125. Download the strava app here – www.strava.com/mobile and find the “Cycle to Break the Cycle” Group. The routes will be posted there over the weekend. If you don’t live in the Fredericton Area, don’t worry! Simply log the km you select, take a pick when you’re done your route, and post in on the event page! View Event.

Summer Programs at the TNB Theatre School. The TNB Theatre School has announced plans for limited summer programming, beginning at the end of June and running through until August. The programs offered this summer include Junior Acting, Junior Musical Theatre, Intermediate Musical Theatre, Intermediate Senior Acting and Intermediate Senior Acting for the Camera with returning instructors Arianna Martinez and Gordon Mihan. Pigment of Your Imagination: Virtual Exhibition of Second Year NBCCD Photography Students. The photography department of the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design would like to invite you to view the online virtual exhibition Pigment of Your Imagination, featuring the work of second year photography students Blake Baxter, Kayla Dormer, Gabrielle Gionet, Korry Hill, and Katherine Murray. Fredericton Society of Artists’ First Online Exhibition. The Fredericton Society of Artists has held its Annual Spring Exhibition since 1949 and, this year, they are very pleased and excited to welcome you to an online showcase of our work.  View this Exhibition.

Lowercase Capital: A Virtual Exhibition. The pitch for this project, presented at Connexion ARC’s 2019 Art Kitchen competition, focused on a desire to present Fredericton in a manner that avoided the city’s postcard potential and concentrated instead on quotidian sublime and strange snapshots that might not traditionally appear remarkable. Garry Sanipass’ Masks: Virtual Exhibition. Garry Sanipass is a valued contributor to the most recent print issue of CreatedHERE, Psyche. View the complete series, including excerpts from his article offering hints of meaning amidst deep visuals from within Garry’s mind. View this exhibition.

In Full Bloom at Gallery 78. In Full Bloom is a collection of paintings by Joanne Hunt and ceramics by Karen Burk. Inspired by the gradual unfurling of precious petals both in the light of day and the stillness of the night, visit online or step into the Gallery and let yourself be lost in their beauty. Momentum at Gallery on Queen. Gallery on Queen’s first virtual exhibition features the work of Moncton artist Jared Betts. Paintings by Jared Betts’ can be found the world over, in private collections from Paris to Los Angeles.  His work often features bright colours, deliberate drips and abstract imagery.  He completed his MFA at NSCAD in Halifax, Nova Scotia and had his first international exhibition (Iceland) the same year. Over the past ten years Betts has participated in dozens of exhibitions across New Brunswick, Canada and around the world. View this exhibition.
