Shivering Songs welcome Stars for two NB performances

Stars are touring east next month in support of their ninth studio album, ‘There Is No Love In Fluorescent Light’.

When a band with a long and successful career starts visiting the East Coast with increased frequency, it usually means one of two things – they’ve either lost momentum on the national touring circuit and are scrambling to develop new audiences or they came out for a one-off gig, had a good time, and were reminded just how laidback and easy-going life on this side of the country can be. Plus, we’re a pretty friendly lot. Maybe that helps.

Whatever the case may be, Canadian indie giants Stars haven’t lost any of the momentum they’ve continued to build over the past 17 years and we’re excited to see they’ll will be back out our way in a few weeks. I caught their set at the 2016 Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival and was more than a little surprised with the honesty and the energy they put into their live show. After almost 20 years on stage, some may argue they’ve earned the right to dial it in and to be completely honest, that’s what I was expecting. Thankfully, that has not been the case. Anyone who has had the chance to see the band on one of their last two trips out our way will agree, Stars do not disappoint.

Last summer Stars were headline performers at the second installment of the Area 506 Festival in Saint John. Just a few months later they released their ninth full-length album, There Is No Love in Fluorescent Light.

Stars’ members have spent the past 17 years ruminating on the many and varied ways our hearts can get kicked around, but their songs still beg us to head back outside for more.

The album has received rave reviews from the likes of Exclaim, Pitchfork, and NPR Music and the supporting live shows have been praised for their solid performances and all-around positive vibes.
