Little You Little Me have something new in the works. After last year’s debut What Have You Been Doing With Yer Time? caught more than a few people off guard and proved Saint John hasn’t lost its edge, the band is now working away on its next project which has grown from a few songs into something bigger.

“We’ve been working away on a new record,” said Corey Bonnevie. “The original idea was to record an EP and put it on a 7″ but it quickly turned into an album’s worth the material. Some of the new tunes can be heard in our Live at Hard Times video. Right now, we have no financial means of releasing an album but the goal is to have it finished this month. Perhaps, we’ll have some singles out on a 7″ and the LP later on.”

Coming up in May, LYLM will play a pair of showcase performances as part of Canadian Music Week in Toronto, sharing the Horseshoe Tavern’s stage with Sianspheric and Swervedriver for a sold out performance on May 6 before joining King Tuff for a performance at Lee’s Palace the following night.

“We didn’t have intense expectations but we were floored when we saw the two great shows we got billed on,” said Bonnevie. “It’ll be our first time in Toronto, so it’s pretty exciting.”

Outside of a little trip to the big city, the band plans to continue to stick close to home in the coming months at least.

“We have some things planned out for the summer. No intense touring. Just gigging when we can. Touring cost so much and we’re not in a situation where we can tour for weeks or months at a time. We’ll be playing as much as possible without getting a lot broker than we already are. Some festivals barely cover travel or don’t at all for bands like us.”

“The biggest hurdle right now is finding a way to get a record out,” said Bonnevie. “We are either looking for label support or finding grants for a self release. I’m hoping CMW will open some doors and bring us some opportunities.”

Catch LYLM at The Capital this weekend and watch for their Thrush Hermit cover on the upcoming Squirtgun Records comp, Return of the Stupid Noise coming out May 5, 2015.
