Fredericton Metal host Mental Health Benefit at The Capital Complex, Thursday December 7.

Three bands from Fredericton’s metal community will take to the Capital Complex stage on December 7 in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association.

“After losing major rock icons such as Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington to suicide this past year and with recent events in the news, it’s becoming increasingly important how important access to help can be,” said long-time Fredericton promoter Samantha Rothenberg who is helping organize the event. “Mental health is something that we take seriously and we feel there needs to be more awareness as to how to access help when you’re in need and how to defeat the stigma around mental illness.”

“We’re really hoping to help let people know that they’re not alone in their struggles,” she said.

Songs In Support of Mental Health Awareness will feature performances by three Fredericton area metal acts – The Green Lung Grinders, The Mind Unleashed and Sea of Signals.

The Green Lung Grinders latest album Toke Signals was released in March 2017.

This show will be the first hometown performance by The Mind Unleashed, a new group featuring members of Wasteland Zombies. Also on the bill is Sea of Signals, a local hardcore/metal band that played their first show last month.

All proceeds from the show will be donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
