Just Announced: Kelly McMichael at The Cap | Nov. 1

Category: music 54

Kelly McMichael was here last performing as a member of Sarah Harmer’s band. She’ll be back in the city on November 1 for a show at The Cap in support of her Polaris Music Prize shortlisted album, Waves.

Kelly McMichael (from Peterborough ON, based in St. John’s, NL) is a multi-instrumentalist and vocal chameleon with a knack for timeless rock and pop songwriting that remains distinctly original. Her debut LP ‘Waves’ broke through the pandemic haze as a notable independent release in May 2021, getting short-listed for The Polaris Prize, winning The East Coast Music Award for Best Rock Album, as well as two Music NL Awards.

The album is praised for rich production skills by Kelly and drummer/engineer Jake Nicoll. Every track packs a punch while displaying a timeless range of rock and pop sounds with playful melodies and dreamy textures that touch on retro psychedelia.

Kelly has been on the road internationally and/or collaborated with Rouge, Sarah Harmer, Regina Gently, Gentleman Reg, The Burning Hell and Allie X.
