Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival will welcome multi-award winning, American blues legend, Curtis Salgado to the city for a special performance at Dolan’s Pub on Wednesday March 1 , 2017.

Curtis Salgado’s prolific career began during the late 1960’s while performing with Oregon based band the Nighthawks. During a 1977 gig in Eugene, Oregon, Salgado met comedian and actor, John Belushi, who was in town filming National Lampoon’s Animal House. The two hit it off immediately and Salgado’s raucous performance style would later be credited as the inspiration for Belushi’s legendary Blues Brothers character Jake Blues.

After the Nighthawks splintered, Salgado joined forces with The Robert Cray Band, singing on Cray’s debut album in 1980 and touring with the band for six years on vocals and harp. Salgado also fronted Roomful of Blues throughout the mid 80’s before forming his own band Curtis Salgado & the Stilettos and releasing their self-titled, debut album in 1991. The group was invited to tour in support of the Steve Miller Band the same year. During a brief sabbatical from his own band, Salgado toured as lead vocalist for American Latin rock group Santana in 1995. Since 1995 Salgado has released eight records, kept an extremely busy touring schedule, battled and beat cancer – twice, and was the recipient of three Blues Music Awards in 2013, including: B.B. King Entertainer of the Year, Soul Blues Male Artist of the Year and Soul Blues Album of the Year.

Salgado is completing an extensive tour in 2017 in support of his latest release The Beautiful Lowdown. The soulful live show is not to be missed and is sure to help you shake off those harsh winter blues.
