It’s been 13 years since rock superstars Guns N’ Roses last played Moncton. This summer, Axl and the gang return for a performance on August 5.
Rock superstars Guns N’ Roses have announced a show in Moncton as part of their 2023 world tour. The concert will take place August 5 at Croix-Bieue Medavie Stadium, formerly known as the Moncton Stadium.
“Guns N’ Roses return to the road on a massive 2023 World Tour, headlining stadiums, festivals, and arenas throughout the summer and fall,” say organizers evenko and Live Nation in yesterday’s release.
“The powerhouse rock band launch this jaunt on June 5 in Tel Aviv, Israel at Park Hayarkon and will continue across Europe through July 22, wrapping in Athens, Greece. The band will continue onto North America, starting on Saturday, August 5 in Moncton, NB at Medavie Blue Cross Stadium, and will visit historic venues across the country such as Fenway Park in Boston, MA on August 21 and Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL on August 24. The tour concludes in Vancouver, BC at BC Place on Monday, October 16.”
The band, featuring classic lineup members Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan has been on tour since 2016, with the first two years billed as “Not in this Lifetime…” a nod to frontman Axl Rose’s notion the lineup would never return. Guitarist Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and second keyboardist Melissa Reese will join the band for the 2023 tour.
Guns N’ Roses last performed in Atlantic Canada in 2010 in support of the then lineup’s Chinese Democracy album. Slash and McKagan last performed in Atlantic Canada with Guns N’ Roses during opening slots for The Cult and Iron Maiden in 1987 and 1988 respectively.
