With another FROSTival just around the corner, the Fredericton Playhouse will again play host to several events as part of the city’s annual winter celebration.

Between January 21 and February 12, the popular downtown stage will present a wide array of performances that include Alberta-based country music artist Brett Kissel, Quebec City’s contemporary circus troupe Machine de Cirque, the return of Fredericton’s own operatic sensation Measha Brueggergosman who will bring her Songs of Freedom tour to the Playhouse stage on February 7 and The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour will again visit the city with two evening screenings featuring the world’s best mountain sport, culture and environmental films.

One of the most unique upcoming performances of the season would have to be that of Montreal-based figure skating/modern dance hybrid performers, Le Patin Libre. Formed in 2005 by former competitive figure skaters, the company bring “urban street dance and high-level artistic expression onto the ice, with a mix of movement, wit, speed and grace”.  This performance will take place at Willie O’Ree Place on February 12. Members of the company will hold a public demonstration in Officer’s Square the day before and encourage everyone to bring their skates and join in the fun.
