Call for Submissions: Human Threads

Category: community 128

Atlantic Ballet Atlantique Canada, Theatre New Brunswick, and the Beaverbrook Art Gallery have issued a call for submissions for a new collaborative project.

Masks will be part of our culture for the foreseeable future. In this new project, we invite artists to submit designs for a wearable facemask that commemorates the masks we are wearing and their related social constraints, as we navigate the challenges of a pandemic. Any medium is acceptable; designs can be made from scratch or added to existing masks. Fourteen masks by NB artists will be selected for a virtual showcase, three gallery exhibitions, and will be worn by dancers for post pandemic performances.

Artists currently living and working in New Brunswick are invited to submit a design or creative concept for a wearable facemask, described in up to 5 images OR a two minute video (.mov or .mp4) by email to: adda@beaverbrookartgallery.org

Deadline for submissions: August 23, 2020 by 5 p.m.

The fourteen selected artists will receive an artist fee of $1283.00 for the creation of their mask. The masks will be worn by dancers of the Atlantic Ballet, as well as exhibited virtually by Beaverbrook Art Gallery, and on-site in two additional venues in the province.
