Monster House Publishing invite the public to attend the launch of its latest children’s book, The River Fiddlers.
Fredericton’s Monster House Publishing made its debut with the children’s book, There and Back Again, A Herman Tale, a book that introduced New Brunswick children and their families to the loveable, under the bed monster, Herman. Written by Paul McAllister with artwork by Emily Brown, the book has quickly become a classic, soon to be produced for the stage by Theatre New Brunswick’s Young Company.
Monster House Publishing will be launching its second book, The River Fiddlers, on Tuesday August 1.
The book was written by author Ron Caldwell and was inspired by his 2003 visit to Fiddles on the Tobique, a long-running New Brunswick festival that attracts hundreds of musicians and paddlers from across the country for a weekend of fiddling, canoeing and workshops.
Sadly, Caldwell passed away before the project was completed. In 2016, his wife Valerie and her son Adam reached out to MHP’s Paul McAllister hoping to see Caldwell’s book finally published.
The River Fiddlers features the artwork by Bennie Allain and marks the company’s first new release for 2017.
“I spent some time in the Tobique at Fiddlers this summer and I can see how and why my dad was so taken by Fiddlers on the Tobique,” said Adam Caldwell, who will perform a reading of the book at the August 1 launch accompanied by Fredericton Fiddler Keegan MC. “It’s a once in a lifetime event.”
